Sarah Wilson, 38, girlfriend of a deceased police inspector, has been convicted for impersonating the Central North Regional Police Commander and defrauding the inspector’s father of GHC2,000.

Wilson used a voice-changing app (“Magic Voice”) to demand money for funeral arrangements and a death certificate.

After receiving the first payment, she requested another GHC2,000, raising suspicion.

She was arrested on May 23, pleaded guilty on June 1, and was fined GHC1,080 (or six months imprisonment) by the Assin Fosu District Court.

She has paid the fine and signed a one-year bond of good behaviour.

The stolen GHC2,000 has been recovered.
