Former Hearts of Oak star Dan Quaye has directed blame towards the current squad for the team’s ongoing struggles, urging them to take responsibility for their poor form.

Quaye emphasised the need for players to elevate their performance levels, asserting that they are tarnishing the club’s reputation with their current output.

In an exclusive interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Quaye dismissed the notion that coaching changes were solely responsible for the team’s woes, noting that despite managerial alterations, there has been no notable improvement in results.

“Initially, people perceived that the problem was about the Coach but after our managerial change still the problem is there. The players must begin to question themselves about what is going on.

“I will blame the playing body for our poor results. The management is doing all they can. The players must up their game. They need to appreciate the fact that this Hearts of Oak, it is bigger than their previous clubs, they cannot compete with their low quality, they must up their game.

“Even for us old players who are now Monday Stars, we can play better than what these players are doing for the club. These current players are not determined to do something for the club.”

With Hearts of Oak languishing in the 12th position on the league table after losing five of their last six matches, Quaye’s comments underscore the urgency for the team to reverse their fortunes and salvage their season.
