Her Excellency Ms Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held essential meetings in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, during the International Congress on Conflict Mediation & Consolidation of Peace on July 16-17, 2024.
The congress, organized by the Women for Africa Foundation with support from the United Nations Alliance for Civilizations, focused on women’s vital role in conflict resolution.
Vice President Damtien Tchintchibidja attended the event to participate in high-level discussions aimed at improving cooperation among regional economic communities (RECs).
During her visit, Vice President Tchintchibidja made courtesy visits to His Excellency Mr. Serge Tshibangu, High Representative of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Her Excellency Ms. Bestine Kazadi, Minister Delegate for International Cooperation and Francophonie.

These meetings highlighted ECOWAS’ dedication to coordinating RECs within the African Union framework for 2024, focusing on strengthening regional cooperation and exchanging experiences on programs for regional stabilization and integration.
Established in 1975, ECOWAS spans 15 member states across West Africa and aims to promote economic cooperation, integration, and stability.
The Vice President’s engagements reaffirm ECOWAS’ commitment to inclusive and sustainable approaches to conflict resolution and development, aligning with its mission to foster peace and prosperity throughout West Africa.
