ECOWAS showcased a robust presence at the 6th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting, held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Acra.
The meeting convened with the participation of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairperson of the ECOWAS Conference of Heads of State and Government.
The summit, inaugurated by His Excellency Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, President of the Arab Republic of Mauritania and current Chairperson of the African Union, also saw the attendance of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, alongside various other African Heads of State and Government.

His Excellency Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, were present, along with Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, and a delegation from the ECOWAS Commission.
The primary objective of the African Union gathering was to advance regional integration and foster peace, security, good governance, and sustainable development across Africa.
