The headline sponsor for the Ghana Women’s Premier League, Malta Guinness has been impressed with the success of the women’s league since their arrival.
In August 2022, the Ghana Football Association announced a sponsorship deal worth GHc10 million, with Malta Guinness taking over as the headline sponsor of the Women’s league in a bid to promote the growth of women’s football.
The initiative saw them supply free footballs and other valuable equipment to these clubs while also enrolling players on the YEA for monthly allowances and making the matches in the Women’s Premier League available on Max TV.
Talking ahead of the Champion of Champions match at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, June 8, Dian Adu Asare Darko, Marketing Manager for Guinness Ghana was impressed with the feat they’ve achieved so far
“Coming unto the pitch today and seeing the crowd, women’s football in Ghana has come a long way.
“It’s not been like this from the beginning and that’s why Malta Guinness came on board to create a world of good for these women. We saw there was so much talent but it was not supported,” she said.

She was also impressed with what they’ve done within the two years.

“It’s been two years now, and we see the improvements; people are interacting more with the league, coming to watch the game, the women are excited and I feel proud for what we’ve achieved so far in the Women’s Premier League,” she added.
On Saturday, June 8, fans trooped to the University of Ghana Stadium to witness to finals in the Women’s division, a practice that shows the significant growth of women’s football in the country.
