Addition of new sports such as cycling and swimming…helping students’ holistic growth
[Mobile Reporter Nam Nan-woo] The Sejong Special Self-Governing City Office of Education (Superintendent Choi Kyo-jin, hereinafter referred to as the Sejong City Office of Education) has launched the “Village Sports Club ‘Dongdongdong’” (Village Sports Club ‘Dongdongdong’), an out-of-school sports school where village children gather together to meet and communicate through various physical activities. (hereinafter referred to as Dongdongdong activities) has been actively operated since last April.
The Sejong City Office of Education is actively reflecting school demand and expanding the ‘Dongdongdong Activity’ from 20 schools last year to 25 schools this year.

In the ‘Dongdongdong Activities’ in the first half of this year, 15 sports, including cycling, were held in 25 schools, and 1,169 students and parents participated, giving families a chance to become one through sports.
‘Dongdongdong activities’ are mainly conducted on weekends considering the academic schedule, and some activities are conducted after school.
In particular, the Sejong City Office of Education is putting a lot of effort into adding new sports such as cycling and swimming in addition to basketball, volleyball, and badminton so that students can enjoy a variety of physical activities.

In addition, the Sejong City Office of Education continues to operate ‘Dongdongdong Activities’ even during vacation, which greatly helps students grow healthily and happily.
In the case of bicycle sports, a systematic ‘Dongdong-dong Bicycle Sports Club’ is operated by inviting physical education teachers who majored in bicycles as instructors.
In particular, for holistic growth, students ride bicycles to visit cultural sites in the Sejong area and also experience culture.

In addition, the instructor of the ‘Dongdong-dong Bicycle Sports Club’ is planning a two-day, one-night bicycle cultural experience in Gunsan during vacation to diversify students’ bicycle experiences.
Chairman of the Bicycle Federation Jo Geon-haeng said, “I believe that the ‘Dongdong-dong Bicycle Sports Club’ is a great activity that allows students to develop a healthy body and develop good character through visits to nearby areas, and I will continue to support the ‘Dongdong-dong activities.’ “He said.
Saeteum Middle School teacher Kim Cheong-hu, who leads the Dongdong-dong Bicycle Sports Club, said, “I think the most important thing in operating the ‘Dongdong-dong activity’ is safety, and in the future, I want to travel safely beyond Sejong and around the country with my students.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Dong Dong Dong Activity’ is scheduled to run until December this year, and sports cultural experiences such as game viewing and friendly matches will also be operated in the second half of the year.
