The APC Youth Network West Africa (APCYN-WA) has honoured Nigerian cyclist and youth advocate MC Jekabeche following his successful bicycle expedition from Nigeria to Ghana, a journey aimed at inspiring young people across West Africa to embrace civic responsibility and purposeful engagement.

The reception, held at the APCYN-WA Secretariat in Accra, was hosted by the organisation’s Director-General, Olatunde Igbasan.
Before arriving in Ghana, MC Jekabeche was received in Lomé by members of APC Youth Network West Africa in Togo, who welcomed and encouraged him as he completed the penultimate stage of his journey.
He arrived in Accra the following day and was escorted from Tema to the APCYN-WA Secretariat, where he was formally welcomed by Igbasan, HRH Dr Olaide Oluwamayowa Jose, executives of the network, and supporters from both Ghana and Nigeria.
Among those present was Cartoon Boy TV, who travelled from Nigeria to support and document the expedition. During the reception, MC Jekabeche was draped in Ghana’s traditional Kente cloth as a mark of honour and appreciation for his achievement.
Speaking at the event, Igbasan commended the cyclist’s determination and urged young people to use social media constructively to educate, inspire and contribute to national development.
He also announced a cash gift of ₦2 million and pledged to provide MC Jekabeche with a new bicycle in recognition of his efforts.
MC Jekabeche later paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, where he was received by the Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Moses Ifedayo Adeoye.
The Acting High Commissioner subsequently hosted a dinner in honour of MC Jekabeche and Igbasan. Also present were the Head of Chancery, Cartoon Boy TV, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Women, executives of the APCYN-WA Ghana Chapter, and other invited guests.
As part of his visit, MC Jekabeche appeared on Asaase Radio’s Breakfast Show, where he recounted his journey and expressed appreciation to Igbasan and APCYN-WA for their support throughout the expedition.
After concluding his engagements in Ghana, MC Jekabeche returned to Nigeria by air. The bicycle used for the expedition has been retained at the APCYN-WA Secretariat in Accra as a commemorative symbol of the historic journey.
Olatunde Igbasan said the event reflected APC Youth Network West Africa’s commitment to recognising and supporting young people making positive contributions to society.
