0 The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has closed down 23 unlicensed and non-compliant health facilities across the country as part of a nationwide enforcement exercise aimed at ensuring quality and safe healthcare delivery.
The operation, which began on Monday, October 6, 2025, targets facilities operating without valid licenses, those with expired permits, and others deemed unfit to provide safe medical care.
In a statement on Friday, October 10, HeFRA said the exercise forms part of efforts to uphold national healthcare standards, enhance patient safety, and protect the public from substandard and potentially harmful medical services.
The statement further said the crackdown is a key component of the Health Ministry’s broader reform strategy under the government’s Resetting Agenda, championed by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
It said the initiative seeks to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure that all facilities meet the required standards for delivering quality care.
HeFRA urged the public to patronise only duly licensed health facilities and reminded all operators that valid HeFRA licenses must be publicly displayed at their premises.
