Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, has cautioned that the current National Sports Authority (NSA) risks setting a dangerous precedent if it continues to make decisions on behalf of Ghana Boxing.

On Friday, September 26, 2025, the NSA dissolved the Management Board of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) following the tragic death of Ghanaian boxer Ernest “Bahubali” Akushey.

The Authority further announced plans to establish a new Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee Ghanaian boxing, a move it has since carried out.

However, in an interview with JoySports, Ntiamoah argued that the NSA’s action contravenes the GBA constitution and could create long-term problems if not addressed.

“The issue here is the power to appoint and the power to disappoint. If we allow Yaw Ampofo Ankrah’s National Sports Authority to make decisions for us—such as taking away a constitutionally mandated Ghana Boxing Board and replacing it with another—then we are giving them powers that future governments may also want to exercise when they come into power,” he warned.
