An 18th minute own goal by Richard Ríos spoiled José Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea topped Benfica 1-0 during Matchday 2 of 2024/25 Champions League action.
It was an emotional return for “The Special One” to the club he led to three Premier League titles. The London crowd sang in his honor in the opening minutes, which was acknowledged by Mourinho.
A little later, the Chelsea faithful were cheering again, this time for a 1-0 lead.
