Ghana’s beach volleyball teams impressed at the 2025 CAVB Zone 3 Nations Beach Volleyball Championship, held from 26–29 August in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, by clinching three medals.

The men’s team secured both gold and bronze, while the women’s side took home silver.

The men’s gold medal was claimed by the formidable Ghana Police Service duo of Paul Akan and Hameed Ibrahim, who defeated Benin in the final.

Ghana’s tally in the men’s division was completed by Phillip Amissah (Ghana Police Service) and Eric Tsatsu (El-Wak Wings), who sealed bronze with victory over Niger.

In the women’s competition, Benedicta Akorli (Ghana Air Force) and Juliana Aryee (Ghana Police Service) battled hard in the final against a strong Nigerian side, eventually settling for silver.

President of the Ghana Volleyball Federation, Mr. George Tettey Esq, hailed the performance as a landmark achievement: “This is a historic moment for Ghana volleyball. Winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze at such a competitive championship highlights the progress we are making as a nation.

“Our players have shown dedication and resilience, and we are confident this success will inspire the next generation of volleyball stars and renew support for the sport.”
