0 The one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, was marked with solemnity at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, August 21, as dignitaries from across the political divide paid their respects.
Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, accompanied by the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, signed the book of condolence upon arrival, joining family and mourners to honour the memory of the revered queen mother.

Former Presidents Nana Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor were also present, alongside the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) was represented by a delegation led by its National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, underscoring the national significance of the occasion.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, announced that the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa will be held from Sunday, September 14, to Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace.
The rites, to be performed in line with Asante tradition, are expected to draw chiefs, queen mothers, dignitaries, and mourners from across Ghana and beyond.
As part of preparations, the Asantehene has declared a ban on all public gatherings, including funerals, outdoor events, and social activities, within Kumasi and its environs during the five-day period.
It said the directive is to preserve the sanctity of the royal rites, ensure security, and manage the influx of large crowds expected to converge on the Ashanti regional capital.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away earlier this month, was the longest-serving Asantehemaa in modern history, celebrated for her wisdom, dignity, and contributions to the Asante Kingdom.
