The King of Akpini State, Okpekpewuokpe Togbui Dagadu IX, has joined other key personalities to mourn the victims of the tragic military helicopter crash involving the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Mohammed Murtala and six others on Wednesday.

In a press statement issued in Kpando, Togbui Dagadu IX described the incident as a national tragedy that has cast a dark shadow over the entire country.

The Akpinifia recalled a recent meeting with the late Minister at his office in Accra, during which matters of mutual interest that concern the people of Kpando and the Ministry of Defence were discussed.

He noted the Minister’s humility, warmth, and sincere dedication to fostering civil–military relations in the Volta Region.

“The Honourable Minister received me with grace and demonstrated a genuine commitment to collaboration in the service of peace and national development,” the King stated.

Togbui Dagadu IX described Dr Omane Boamah as a true statesman and devoted public servant whose life was marked by professionalism, patriotism, and a relentless pursuit of unity and security for the nation.

“This is not only a national loss but also a personal one for the Akpini State,” the King lamented.

On behalf of the chiefs, elders, and citizens of Akpini, Togbui Dagadu IX extended heartfelt condolences to the President of the Republic, the government and people of Ghana, the Ministry of Defence, and the bereaved families of all eight victims of the crash.

“May the souls of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and those who perished alongside him rest in perfect peace. May their lives of service continue to inspire our collective dedication to Ghana,” the statement concluded.
