Bayern Munich’s forward Thomas Muller says Wednesday’s Champions League semifinal clash against Real Madrid can be anyone’s game.

Bayern and Madrid enthralled fans with an entertaining 2 -2 draw at the Allianz Arena last Tuesday. With none of the two sides going into the game with any scoreline advantage, Muller believes the tie is there to be won by both teams.

The veteran speaking ahead of the encounter in a press conference believes even though tiny margins can decide the game, both teams stand a chance of qualifying.

It’ll be an even game, on a knife’s edge. A lot in football comes down to being clinical. We also had two big chances in the second half against Stuttgart when it was 1-1. If you put chances away, you win. If not, you lose. That’s what it’ll come down to. It’s about millimetres, whether we’re clinical and can take them in the moments where we create our chances. That’s it,” he said.

Muller however was quick to acknowledge the threat Madrid posed.

There are a lot of sides to Real. They can drop back, have no problem also defending. But they know that they have excellent players on the counter. That concept has been seen to work enough times. It’s no coincidence that they’ve constantly been in the semi-finals in recent years. Real are so dangerous, but you can also play against them. Whether they’re beatable for us will be decided by whether we can put the ball away or not,” he added.

Both teams will be aiming to advance to the finals; Madrid aiming to secure their 15th Champions League title and Bayern seeking their seventh when they take to the pitch on Wednesday.

In their previous semi-final encounter in the Champions League, Real Madrid clinched a 4-3 aggregate victory before ultimately lifting the trophy.
