Nations FC’s manager, Kassim Mingle, has brushed aside talks of his side challenging for the league, despite the Kumasi-based club winning their last four games.
Nations are top of the Ghana Premier League after a tremendous start to the season, one that has seen the team score the most goals (13) and concede the least in the division (3).
After succumbing to their only loss of the season in Tarkwa against Medeama on matchday 7, Nations have embarked on a consistent winning streak, clinching victories in four successive games while conceding no goals in the process.
Forward Faisal Charwetey, who joined from Division One side Akatsi All Stars, has been a nightmare for defenders, scoring the most goals in the league (8) thus far.
Charwetey, just like a chunk of his teammates, are relatively new to the Premier League, a case that coach Kassim Mingle feels they have to address before setting their sights on the league.
“It is still work in progress, you know? Our players that we recruited they are second, first-division players, so one or two, I will say, maybe from the Premier. So, definitely, I’ll say work in progress, so we have to continue building them. It will take about two seasons for them to gain the necessary experience that we need to play in the Premiership. That is why I always say it is work in progress,” he said.
Nations, who are yet to lose a home game since the start of last season, have an opportunity to preserve their enviable record when Berekum Chelsea visit on Sunday.
