The Global Solidarity Network marked the anniversary of the July Revolution with a series of events celebrating African and Latin American solidarity, founder Hassan Ghazaly said on Thursday.

These events underscored Egypt’s renewed political influence in the Global South.

The July Revolution, a pivotal event in Egypt’s history, granted the country a significant political standing in the Global South,” Ghazaly told reporters.

“African, Latin American, and Asian solidarity are crucial concepts that deserve prominence in our media within the framework of the Global South.”

As part of its transformative “Global Solidarity Talks” initiative, the Nasser Youth Movement, a vital arm of the Global Solidarity Network, hosted a series of bilingual discussion sessions.

In African languages, seminars that revived Afro-Arab ties featured sessions like “A Simulated Journey to Tanzania,” where prominent novelists and literary critics discussed Bagamoyo’s historical landmarks.

Nelson Ntimba, a noted novelist, highlighted Bagamoyo’s rich history, from ancient Arabic inscriptions to its role as a hub of economic activity.

Richard Mwembe, an investigative writer, explored Kilwa Island’s historical importance amidst trade in gold, ivory, and spices.

Literary critic Juamaki focused on Kigoma’s unique geography and its captivating tourist appeal, sparking the audience’s interest.

In Spanish-language sessions, discussions on ‘Arab-Latin American Solidarity: Argentina as a Model’ examined parallels between Arab and Latin American liberation movements, focusing on the role of Argentina as a model for such solidarity.

Participants explored the intellectual synergy between figures like Juan Perón and Gamal Abdel Nasser, emphasizing shared national development visions.

Ghazaly reiterated the Global Solidarity Network’s non-profit nature, highlighting its volunteer-driven efforts to foster cultural exchange in Arabic, Spanish, Swahili, French, English, and Russian.

“This platform empowers Egyptian youth to engage with global change,” he said, “creating leaders fluent in global dialogue.”

The initiative underscores Egypt’s commitment to cultivating linguistic proficiency and diplomatic acumen among its youth, preparing them to engage effectively with diverse global challenges.
