Five people were killed in an accident early Tuesday morning on the B1 road between Tsumeb and Oshivelo in the Oshikoto Region, northern Namibia.

The vehicle, carrying eight people from Walvis Bay to Ondangwa, veered off the road and overturned after the driver lost control, the Namibia police said in a report.

According to the report, four individuals died at the scene, while another passed away later in the hospital. Three others sustained injuries and were transported to Tsumeb State Hospital for urgent medical care.

Authorities have since notified the next of kin about the tragedy.
