In Huangluo Yao Village, Guangxi, the world renowned “Long-Hair” Village, CGTN host Julian Waghann and Filipino singer Eliza Arce immersed themselves in the song-and-dance traditions of the Red Yao women. More than 120 village women, adorned in their finest festive attire, took to the stage to present the stories and customs of their ancestors through joyful music and movement. As they performed the Long Hair Ballad, they undid their coiled buns, letting their jet‑black, lustrous hair cascade like waterfalls – with some of the longest strands reaching up to 2.3 meters. Mesmerized by this spectacular display, the two guests joined the villagers on stage, experiencing the unique allure of this millennium-old Red Yao heritage through every combing motion and every dance step.
