Founder and flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has asserted that either former President John Dramani Mahama or Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will perform badly if elected president in the 2024 general elections.

He said former President Mahama would be “worse,” whilst Vice President Dr Bawumia would be “disastrous” in office, stressing that his administration is what Ghanaians need under the circumstances.

Dr Ayariga maintained that Dr Bawumia’s leadership would be disastrous due to his policy approach, which he thinks could worsen the nation’s economic and social stability.

Additionally, Dr. Ayariga voiced criticism of John Mahama’s previous administration, asserting that his return to power would only exacerbate the existing issues.

The APC flagbearer made the remarks at a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday.

“Both of them becoming President—Mahama will be worse, Bawumia will be disastrous, and Hassan Ayariga will be better,” Dr. Ayariga stated.

However, Dr Ayariga explained that his policies would be markedly different and more beneficial for the country.

“You will see the policies that I’m going to implement are totally different from what they are doing,” he told journalists.

The APC leader’s remarks highlight his party’s role as a pivotal voice calling for a new direction in Ghanaian politics. Whether Dr. Ayariga’s warnings will resonate with voters and influence the upcoming election remains uncertain. Until December 7, 2024, Dr Ayariga and the APC will continue to advocate for change and a new era of governance focused on the well-being of all Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that he will be more accountable to Ghanaians than his main contender, former President John Mahama, if elected as president during the December 7 polls. This, he said, is due to his desire to serve for two terms which means he would return to the voters again after his first term.
