NSA and UNFPA unveil work readiness programme to train 150,000 graduates annually

The National Service Authority (NSA), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has convened a high-level meeting to review and advance a new Work Readiness and Leadership Training Programme aimed at equipping Ghanaian graduates with the skills required for successful entry into the workforce.

According to a post shared on Facebook by the Authority, the initiative, designed to impact approximately 150,000 graduates each year, seeks to bridge the gap between academic training and the practical demands of Ghana’s evolving labour market.

Delivered primarily through a virtual platform using blended learning approaches, the programme integrates interactive content, practical assessments and applied learning methods to ensure participants can translate knowledge into real-world competence.

Five Core Training Modules

The curriculum is structured around five key modules intended to provide a holistic foundation for professional and personal development:

• Civic Education – Promoting responsible citizenship, national values and active community engagement.
• Personal Leadership – Strengthening self-awareness, goal-setting abilities and ethical decision-making.
• Digital Agility – Equipping graduates with essential digital skills to navigate modern workplace environments.
• Health and Rights – Encouraging personal well-being, safety awareness and informed life choices.
• Global Awareness – Expanding understanding of international trends, global opportunities and cross-cultural competence.

The Authority noted that the blended learning format will allow graduates across the country to access training flexibly while maintaining structured engagement.

Leadership Commitment

The meeting was chaired by the NSA Director-General, Ms Ruth Dela Seddoh, alongside her deputies, Fuseini Donkor, Deputy Director-General for Finance and Administration, and Lt. Col. Moses Dok Nach Kpeungu, Deputy Director-General for Programmes and Operations. They were joined by the UNFPA Country Representative, Dr Wilfred David Ochan.

Together, the leadership emphasised the importance of equipping graduates with the skills, knowledge and leadership mindset necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven workforce.

According to officials, the programme reflects a strategic commitment by the NSA to enhance graduate employability, strengthen civic responsibility and promote leadership capacity among young professionals.
