Ghana international Thomas Partey has denied new rape allegations after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed he has been charged with two additional counts.

The development was first reported by the Telegraph, with the CPS later announcing that the new charges relate to a separate report of non-recent alleged offences said to have occurred in 2020.

The CPS indicated that the fresh allegations were first reported in August last year and followed a new investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Partey has already appeared in court, where he denied raping two women and sexually assaulting a third.

Those alleged offences are said to have taken place in 2021 and 2022, during his time as a regular for Arsenal in the English Premier League.

He is due to face trial on those allegations in November.

In response to the latest charges, Partey’s defence lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, reiterated his position.

“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment,” she said.

The 32-year-old was formally charged four days after leaving Arsenal following the expiration of his contract in June.

Partey currently plays for Spanish side Villarreal. The conditions of his bail do not prevent him from playing professional football; however, he must notify police of any international travel at least 24 hours in advance and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.

The case remains before the court.
