0 The Ghana Police Service has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux pick-up and other exhibits following an intelligence-led operation into a residential robbery incident that occurred on December 4, 2025.
The operation led to the identification of a key suspect linked to the attack.
According to a statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), armed men attacked a female complainant in her room and made away with her Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and other personal belongings.
Following sustained intelligence gathering, police tracked down a suspect identified as Clement Kofi Aidoo, also known by the aliases Joseph Abequaye, Yaw, and Paddy.
During an attempt to arrest him, the suspect reportedly attacked the officers. Police returned fire, injuring him in the process.
The suspect was rushed to the Police Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead while receiving care.
A search conducted after the operation led to the retrieval of the stolen Toyota Hilux, the complainant’s mobile phone, and several documents believed to be linked to criminal activities.
Further investigations revealed that in November 2025, the same suspect had allegedly absconded with a Toyota Camry belonging to a police officer who had engaged him through a recruitment agency to care for his ailing father.
The vehicle was later recovered in the Central Region after the suspect abandoned it during a police chase.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to tracking criminal networks, recovering stolen property, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
