0 The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has called for honesty, accountability, and deliberate strategic planning as the Ministry and its agencies convene for the 2025 Annual Performance Review Workshop.
The workshop, held under the theme “Strengthening Security Governance, Accountability, and Service Delivery through Performance Review and Strategic Alignment,” is intended to provide a platform for a candid assessment of performance, identification of gaps, and the setting of clear priorities to guide the sector’s work in 2026 and beyond.
Opening the forum, Mr Mohammed-Mubarak acknowledged progress made across the security sector, including enhanced inter-agency collaboration, advances in digitisation, and improved emergency response mechanisms.
However, he was quick to note that significant challenges remain, particularly in the areas of evolving crime trends, border security pressures, and heightened public expectations around accountability and respect for human rights.
He urged Heads of Agencies to engage the review process with transparency and a strong sense of ownership, stressing that the exercise should strengthen strategic alignment, sharpen coordination, and reinforce their collective responsibility to deliver security services that build public trust and support national development.
In a welcome address, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Doreen Annan, described the workshop as a solution-driven engagement rather than a fault-finding exercise.
She explained that the forum is designed to promote institutional learning, improve coordination, and enhance overall effectiveness within the sector.
The three-day workshop is taking place at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada and has brought together the Deputy Minister, Chief Director, Heads of Agencies, and senior officers to review the Ministry’s performance and chart a clear path forward.
