Ghana Tourism Federation appoints Emmanuel Treku as Chair of Marketing and Public Relations Directorate

The Governing Council of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) has appointed Mr Emmanuel Treku, Chief Executive Officer of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, as Chairman of the Federation’s Marketing and Public Relations Directorate.

The appointment was made on Tuesday, 4th February 2026, at an Emergency Council Meeting convened to deliberate on strategic priorities for the promotion and repositioning of Ghana’s tourism industry.

The Council said Mr Treku’s elevation reflects its strong confidence in his demonstrated capacity in tourism marketing, exhibitions management, stakeholder engagement and destination branding.

In his role as CEO of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, he has been pivotal in developing high-impact platforms that convene tourism operators, policymakers, investors and international partners, while projecting Ghana’s tourism offerings to a global audience.

As Chairman of the Marketing and Public Relations Directorate, Mr Treku will provide strategic leadership in strengthening GHATOF’s brand visibility and narrative coherence. His remit includes coordinating effective communication strategies across member associations, enhancing media relations, and driving innovative marketing initiatives to bolster the growth and competitiveness of Ghana’s tourism sector.

The Governing Council noted that at a time when unified messaging and strong industry representation are essential, Mr Treku’s industry insight and strategic acumen will be instrumental in presenting a compelling and cohesive image of Ghana’s tourism industry, both domestically and internationally.

In accepting the appointment, Mr Treku expressed his gratitude to the Governing Council and the Executive Committee for the confidence reposed in him.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders to deepen partnerships, amplify the voice of the private sector, and contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of tourism in Ghana.

GHATOF is the umbrella body for private sector tourism associations in Ghana and plays a central role in advocacy, policy engagement and destination promotion.

The appointment of Mr Treku is expected to further consolidate the Federation’s marketing and public relations architecture, positioning tourism as a vital pillar of national development.
