An Accra Circuit Court has convicted a 30-year-old lotto writer for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.

Caesar Dzantor admitted possessing 18 compressed pieces of cannabis weighing 9,381.68 grammes and was convicted on his own plea.

The sentence has been deferred to February 4, 2026.

ASP Issah Achiburi said Police personnel at the V.I.P Bus Station Police Post, Circle, arrested Dzantor on May 16, 2025, while he attempted to send the drugs concealed in a carton through a V.I.P courier service to Wassa Akropong.

The convict, a resident of Dawhenya, told the police in his caution statement that his stepfather, Nana Gyantuah, contracted him to send the substance, adding that it was his second time doing so for a fee.

The exhibits were sent to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory, which confirmed on September 15, 2025, that they tested positive for cannabis.

ASP Achiburi said Dzantor later jumped police enquiry bail and was rearrested on January 28, 2026, at Gbefi near Golokuati in the Volta Region.
