Police Ladies began their Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title defence with a strong win over Halifax Queens.
The defending champions recorded a 4-1 win in their opening game of the 2025/26 season at the Madina Astro Turf on Friday, October 31.
Grace Animah opened the scoring for Police Ladies after just five minutes, capitalising on a defensive mistake to give her side the lead.
The lead was doubled just before the break with Deborah Afriyie getting on the scoresheet.
Deborah grabbed her second of the game after the recess, scoring in the 63rd minute of the one-sided encounter.
Cecilia Acquah missed a chance to reduce the deficit minutes later but there was no denying her in the 78th minute as she took her chance to make it 3-1.
Grace Animah also completed her brace 10 minutes later after Cecilia had scored to restore Police’s three-goal lead and end the game 4-1.
In other games, Jonina Ladies also recorded a 4-0 win over Soccer Intellectuals.
Epiphany Warriors also opened their campaign with defeat against Army Ladies later in the day at the Madina Astro Turf.
