The Inspector General of Police, Christian Ghana Police Service, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, has assumed control of investigations into the death of Cheith Toure, a Senegalese teenage goalkeeper who died in Kumasi last week.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Monday night, the IGP indicated it would complement the efforts of the Ashanti Regional Police Command with \u201ca special team made up of homicide investigors, forensic experts and intelligence officers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement said this was done to \u201csupport the Ashanti Regional Police Command with ongoing investigations into the death of the Senegalese National.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Police has confirmed that on October 16, a gentleman named Issah, who claimed to be a brother of the deceased, sent the body of the deceased to the Manhyia hospital with several abdominal injuries. <\/p>\n

Issah alleged that the deceased was the victim of an accident and subsequently deposited the body at the Ebenezer morturary, Tafo, Kumasi.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead on arrival by the hospital authorities, according to a police statement.<\/p>\n

The death of the teenager was first reported by Senegal\u2019 Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Integration, who claimed that the goalkeeper was a \u201cvictim of a network of scams and extortion of funds.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
