Gremio forward Francis Amuzu has rejected claims of wanting to switch allegiance to Ghana only for the World Cup after declaring his intention to play for the Black Stars.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old, who turned down the opportunity to play for the senior national team in 2022, has now publicly availed himself for a possible call-up.<\/p>\n

His announcement came just a few days after the Black Stars sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was born in Ghana, so I\u2019m happy that they qualified for the World Cup. It\u2019s a wonderful tournament also to play,\u201d said Amuzu, a statement that has seen many label him as an \u201copportunist.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the attacker is open to invitations before or after the global tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s for the World Cup, it will be nice,\u201d he told Asempa FM.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s after the World Cup, it\u2019s also nice, I will be happy. It is a dream for me to play for the national team Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know also that I have to perform well to get a call-up. If it [call-up] comes, good. If it doesn\u2019t come, I have to work harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amuzu has represented Belgium at the U-19 and U-21 levels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
