The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has revealed that Ghana is currently receiving 200 excavators daily, intensifying concerns over the ongoing illegal mining (galamsey).<\/p>\n

Mr Aboagye disclosed that the volume of machinery imports has previously caused severe congestion at the country\u2019s ports, requiring urgent measures to ease the backlog.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cToday we are getting 200 excavators on a daily basis into Ghana. The last time, the port got congested to the extent that they had to decongest it,\u201d he said on\u00a0Newsfile<\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mr Aboagye also criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for what he described as a delayed acknowledgment of the worsening galamsey situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NDC and the government, as we have today, are finally coming to the realisation that galamsey has worsened,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He referenced a recent media briefing where the President and the Communications Minister challenged the public to provide evidence that illegal mining had deteriorated, a stance Mr Aboagye found unconvincing given the scale of the problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time when the President met the media, and the government communications minister was speaking, he actually had the energy to tell the entire country that if you think galamsey has worsened, provide evidence,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
