Ghana\u2019s inflation rate has dropped to a single digit for the first time in four years, falling to 9.4% in September 2025<\/strong> from 11.5% in August<\/strong>, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).<\/p>\n

Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu<\/strong> explained that the decline was largely driven by reductions in both food and non-food inflation, as well as lower prices for locally produced and imported items.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeptember 2025 inflation of 9.4% is actually showing a reduction from 11.5% recorded in August,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is driven by a reduction in inflation on locally produced items from 12.2% in August to 10.1% in September, and also a reduction in inflation on imported items from 9.5% in August to 7.4%.\u201d<\/p>\n

Food inflation fell sharply from 14.8% in August to 11% in September<\/strong>, while non-food inflation also edged down from 8.7% to 8.25%<\/strong> over the same period.<\/p>\n

Dr. Iddrisu further noted that the country\u2019s month-on-month inflation stood at 0.9%<\/strong> in September, compared to a 1.3% decline between July and August.
\u201cThis increase is influenced by developments in both food and non-food inflation, where food inflation increased by 0.6% between August and September 2025,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The September figure marks Ghana\u2019s lowest inflation rate since August 2021, offering relief after years of double-digit inflation that eroded household purchasing power and strained the economy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
