Barcelona have sacked manager Xavi Hernandez despite his decision to stay beyond the end of the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Spaniard announced in January that he would leave the Camp Nou, but he was persuaded to stay by club president Joan Laporta in April.<\/p>\n

But recent comments from Xavi, in which he opened up about the club\u2019s financial struggles, are said to have angered Laporta.<\/p>\n

Xavi, who had been contracted until 2025, was informed of the club\u2019s decision during a meeting with Laporta and sporting director Deco.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old began his tenure as manager on an impressive note in November 2021 as he eventually won La Liga the following season as well as the Supercopa de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n

The former Barcelona midfielder earned praise for managing a team marred with financial crisis as he focused on developing young talents like Gavi, Pedri and Lamine Yamal among others.<\/p>\n

However, he has failed to impress in recent times having failed to deliver in the UEFA Champions League, a competition the club deems significant beyond any other achievement.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there are concrete reports suggesting Hansi Flick, the former Bayern Munich boss is set to takeover.<\/p>\n

Laporta is believed to be in advanced talks with the 59-year-old who has reciprocated his interest.<\/p>\n

It remains to be known which manager will be in the dugout in the absence of Xavi when the Catalans embark on a final day trip to Sevilla on Sunday.<\/p>\n

However, the announcement has left many football enthusiasts shocked considering the Xavi\u2019s change of mind before the end of the season.<\/p>\n
