The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu South in the Volta region, Nicholas Worclachie, has appealed for urgent construction and rehabilitation of key roads within the municipality, citing their importance to tourism, trade, and the proposed Keta Harbour project.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the World Tourism Day celebrations at Agbozume, the MCE revealed that he had persistently lobbied the Ministry of Roads and Highways to prioritise the municipality\u2019s critical road networks.<\/p>\n

According to him, recent visits by the Chief Director of Highways and the CEO of the Ghana Highways Authority were purposely to take inventory of the municipality\u2019s deteriorated roads.<\/p>\n

Among the priority projects identified are: The Keta\u2013Aflao\u2013Agbozume corridor, the bypass from Afedome to Agbozume, the Keta\u2013Havi stretch, and Access roads from Adina, Blekusu, and Wekove through to Aflao.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese roads are not just for movement; they are strategic for the future of the Keta Harbour project. Without them, we will struggle to provide depots, terminals, and facilities for workers when the harbour comes on stream,\u201d Mr. Worclachie explained.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the road improvements would also boost tourism and trade in Ketu South, connecting markets and heritage sites to major highways.<\/p>\n

The MCE, who credited the support of the area\u2019s Member of Parliament in lobbying efforts, maintained that the Ketu South municipality was determined to secure government attention to transform its infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Keta Harbour is a massive national project. For it to succeed, these roads must be considered as a priority and fully rehabilitated,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
