The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the United States has reversed the visa restrictions previously imposed on Ghana.<\/p>\n

In a post on his X account, Mr Ablakwa said Ghanaians are now eligible for five-year multiple-entry visas and other enhanced consular privileges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis good news was directly communicated to me by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, at a bilateral meeting earlier today, on the margins of the UN General Assembly. <\/p>\n

Big win for Ghana! <\/p>\n

The US visa restrictions imposed on Ghana has been reversed. <\/p>\n

Ghanaians can now be eligible for five-year multiple entry visas and other enhanced consular privileges.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really pleased that months of high-level diplomatic negotiations have led to a successful outcome,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The US imposed visa restrictions on Ghana and several other countries in July this year, limiting affected citizens to three-month, single-entry visas. <\/p>\n

In Ghana\u2019s case, the measure was justified by what US authorities said were high rates of visa overstays, particularly among students.<\/p>\n

Mr Ablakwa said the reversal marks a return to \u201chealthier and stronger Ghana-USA relations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
