The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has questioned the basis for the removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.<\/p>\n

He warned that unanswered questions surrounding the process will resurface after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government leaves office in 2029.<\/p>\n

Speaking on JoyNews\u2019 Newsfile<\/strong><\/em> on Saturday, Mr Aboagye said he had long been concerned about the grounds on which the decision was taken, arguing that due process was not followed in arriving at the outcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s time for us to come down to give her some hearing. I have always had a problem with the basis for her removal and all the things they went through. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that there is no audit report from any Auditor-General indicating the primary allegations they used against her. And I don\u2019t think our laws allow any committee or body to determine these things other than the Auditor-General,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He further argued that the former Chief Justice herself had been left in the dark, having only received an official notification of her removal without access to the detailed report.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs it stands now, nobody has even seen the report, and she has not received a copy of the report from the President. The only thing she received was the letter from the Secretary indicating that she had been removed. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t even know in proper terms the basis of her removal other than what the President has stated,\u201d Mr Aboagye said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the full picture will only emerge after the government\u2019s tenure ends.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is why I am saying when this government eventually leaves in 2029, we will know the details. And I am very sure that when this woman gets the opportunity to go through this process again, we would see a lot of doubts,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
