National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members to remain calm and united as President John Mahama\u2019s government gradually creates more opportunities for appointments.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a meeting with branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former officials, cadres, and Assembly members in the Asuogyaman Constituency, Mr Asiedu Nketiah assured supporters that patience would be rewarded.<\/p>\n

He was in the Eastern Region as part of a three-day \u201cThank You Tour\u201d following the NDC\u2019s election victory.<\/p>\n

Addressing concerns from members who are yet to secure government roles, he appealed for understanding, stressing that the leadership is working to ensure loyal members are not left out.<\/p>\n

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also warned against internal divisions, pointing to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an example to avoid.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we do what we want with the positions we have gotten, our party will be divided like the NPP\u2019s. But I know that will never happen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further described the NPP\u2019s ongoing flagbearer race as destructive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat NPP is now doing is a contest to hell. The flagbearer aspirants are criticising each other and are enumerating the sins and faults of each other,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The NDC Chairman stressed the need for unity and discipline to sustain the party\u2019s momentum and avoid the kind of infighting that, in his view, is weakening the opposition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
