Minister of Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has urged Ghanaian road contractors to prove critics wrong by delivering quality and timely road projects across the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said the government was committed to investing in infrastructure but insisted that contractors must meet expectations by ensuring value for money and durable roads.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Minister made the call at\u00a0Titrinu\u00a0near Ho, the Volta Regional capital, during a sod-cutting ceremony for the reconstruction of the Ho-Aflao\u00a0highway under the\u00a0BigPush project.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Agbodza, who is also the Member of Parliament for\u00a0Adaklu, stressed that road infrastructure remained central to the government\u2019s development agenda, linking communities, enhancing trade, and improving lives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is not just about asphalt and bitumen. It is about connecting people, facilitating business, and ensuring that our people travel safely and comfortably,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Ho-Aflao\u00a0road, a major stretch that connects Ghana to neighbouring Togo, has been in deplorable condition for years, causing discomfort to commuters and traders who rely on it for business.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Residents and transport operators have often raised concerns over the poor state of the road, which has slowed economic activity and posed safety risks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Agbodza\u00a0assured stakeholders that the project would be delivered on schedule and according to specifications, adding that the government would not compromise on standards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He reminded contractors that shoddy work would no longer be tolerated, as the ministry had strengthened supervision and monitoring mechanisms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cGhanaians deserve the best. We cannot continue to waste resources on roads that deteriorate within a short time. Let us work together to change this narrative,\u201d the Minister said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and residents of Ho and its surrounding communities expressed joy at the commencement of the project, describing it as a long-awaited relief.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

They appealed to the government to ensure that the project was not abandoned midway, as had been the case with other road projects in the past.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Ho-Aflao\u00a0highway project is expected to enhance regional integration, boost cross-border trade, and contribute significantly to Ghana\u2019s economic growth when completed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
