Kpassa\u00a0(O\/R), June 9, GNA-Residents of\u00a0Damanko\u00a0in the\u00a0Nkwanta\u00a0North District of the\u00a0Oti\u00a0Region have appealed to the government to immediately commission and\u00a0operationalise\u00a0the long-completed E-Block Community Day Senior High School to improve access to secondary education in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to community members, the school project was\u00a0initiated\u00a0during the first term of President John\u00a0Dramani\u00a0Mahama\u00a0in 2013 as part of efforts to expand educational infrastructure across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They noted that the facility was\u00a0substantially completed\u00a0during the administration of former President Nana\u00a0Addo\u00a0Dankwa\u00a0Akufo-Addo\u00a0but was never commissioned before the government left office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The residents are therefore calling on President\u00a0Mahama, the Minister for Education,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Haruna\u00a0Iddrisu, the\u00a0Nkwanta\u00a0North District Chief Executive\u00a0(DCE)\u00a0Mr\u00a0Isaiah\u00a0Kudjoe\u00a0Dordoe\u00a0and the Member of Parliament\u00a0(MP)\u00a0for\u00a0Nkwanta\u00a0North constituency,\u00a0Mr\u00a0John\u00a0Kwabena\u00a0Bless\u00a0Oti\u00a0to ensure that the school is officially\u00a0opened for academic activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the community, Assembly Member for\u00a0Damanko\u00a0East,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Kwabena\u00a0Vincent emphasized the importance of the school to the district\u2019s educational development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0He said the\u00a0operationalisation\u00a0of the facility would provide accessible and quality secondary education for students within the district, reducing the need for parents to send their children to schools in other areas at significant cost.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He further\u00a0stated\u00a0that the opening of the school would create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activities in\u00a0Damanko,\u00a0benefiting\u00a0local\u00a0businesses,\u00a0and improving livelihoods.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some residents expressed optimism that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration would fulfill their long-standing\u00a0expectations\u00a0of making the facility operational.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The residents described the E-Block Community Day Senior High School as a critical investment in the future of the district and urged the government to take immediate steps to commission\u00a0and open the facility for use.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They believe that bringing the school into operation will not only improve educational access but also contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of\u00a0Damanko\u00a0and the wider\u00a0Nkwanta\u00a0North District.\u00a0<\/p>\n
