GCB Bank has introduced a new savings product, the Hajj Account<\/strong>, aimed at helping Ghanaian Muslims prepare financially for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.<\/p>\n

The product was launched in Tamale last Thursday, where Islamic scholars, community leaders and youth representatives welcomed the initiative, describing it as a practical means of encouraging gradual savings for the pilgrimage.<\/p>\n

The Head of the Shia Community in Tamale, Sheikh Abdul Mumin, said the account would support Muslims to plan responsibly for the journey. \u201cAllah is the ultimate provider, but that does not mean we should sit idle. We must make the effort to plan and save gradually, and Insha Allah, we will be able to go on a Hajj,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Chief Imam of the 6th Garrison of the Air Force Base in Tamale, Sheikh Abdul-Rahim Yamusah, added that the initiative would help make the Hajj more accessible. He described the pilgrimage as \u201ca once-in-a-lifetime journey that completes one\u2019s spiritual obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GCB Hajj Account is available to both new and existing customers of the bank. It allows prospective pilgrims to deposit funds into a dedicated account, which accrues no interest. A minimum deposit of GHS50 is required to open the account, and customers are exempted from monthly charges. Account holders are also entitled to free insurance cover.<\/p>\n

According to the bank, the product is designed to provide security for savings and prevent the risks associated with informal Hajj financing schemes. Funds saved in the account will be transferred directly to accredited agents or the Hajj Board on the instruction of the customer.<\/p>\n

GCB Bank officials said the initiative is intended to provide a safe and transparent channel for Muslims preparing for the pilgrimage, while also ensuring their contributions are traceable and used for the intended purpose.<\/p>\n

The Hajj Savings Account is open at all GCB branches nationwide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
