The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has handed over medical supplies and equipment valued at $1.5 million to the Ga North Municipal Hospital. <\/p>\n

He said the move reflects the government\u2019s commitment to improving existing health facilities across the country.<\/p>\n

The Minister explained that the presentation followed an unannounced visit, where it became clear that the hospital was struggling without some essential tools. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe gesture followed a surprise visit where it was discovered that the hospital was operating without some critical resources,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

More than 30 items were presented, including anaesthesia machines, incubators, nebulisers, ECG machines, steam sterilisers, stethoscopes, hospital beds, delivery sets, and ward screens.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is capital investment, and I urge hospital authorities to ensure proper maintenance and effective use of the equipment for the benefit of patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further explained that health care delivery rests on three key pillars; personnel, infrastructure, and equipment. In his view, it is \u201cunwise to allow existing facilities to deteriorate while focusing only on new construction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Victor Caesar, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of staff. <\/p>\n

He highlighted the urgent need for some of the donated items, particularly the anaesthesia machines.<\/p>\n

\u201cStaff are overjoyed and relieved to finally receive the equipment, especially the anaesthesia machines, which we have urgently needed for years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr Caesar also gave an assurance that the hospital would take good care of the supplies. \u201cThe equipment will be well maintained, as the facility has a strong culture of preserving and maximising the use of medical resources,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
