President John Mahama has declared that his government has successfully rescued Ghana\u2019s power sector from the brink of collapse, crediting prudent and economically sound policies for averting another energy crisis.<\/p>\n

Speaking at his first media interaction on Wednesday, September 10, the President said his administration had taken deliberate measures to stabilise electricity supply and prevent the recurrence of dumsor, the prolonged power outages that previously paralysed businesses and disrupted livelihoods.<\/p>\n

He noted that when his government assumed office, the power sector was facing severe challenges, but timely interventions had restored stability and ensured consistent supply across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stability of the energy sector is vital to sustaining economic growth, building investor confidence, and improving the quality of life for Ghanaians,\u201d President Mahama stressed.<\/p>\n

The President also pointed to broader economic measures, including tax reforms and policies to strengthen the cedi, as part of his government\u2019s strategy to ease the financial pressures facing households and businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our prudent and people-centred economic management plan, we have slashed nuisance taxes and rescued our power sector. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have averted the \u2018dumsor\u2019 crisis that was handed to us, reduced exchange rate volatility, eased the cost of doing business, and lowered the cost of living for the average Ghanaian,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Mahama assured citizens that his administration remains committed to consolidating these gains while rolling out further reforms to secure Ghana\u2019s long-term economic recovery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
