The life and unjust murder of\u00a0George Floyd\u00a0will be documented in an upcoming biopic.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, the film, titled\u00a0Daddy Changed the World<\/em>, will come to the big screen via production companies\u00a0Radar Pictures<\/a>,\u00a08 Queens Media<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Night Fox Entertainment<\/a>, with Floyd\u2019s daughter, Gianna, and her mother, Roxie Washington, serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n

Although the project doesn\u2019t yet have a director, attached to the film is screenwriter Gregory R. Anderson\u00a0(Stomp the Yard<\/em>).<\/p>\n

In addition to chronicling the imperfection of Floyd\u2019s life, it will also tackle his brutal 2020 death at the hands of former officer\u00a0Derek Chauvin<\/a>, and the global protest movement it sparked. Shortly before his passing, Floyd repeatedly yelled out, \u201cI can\u2019t breathe,\u201d which has since become a slogan of the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n

While centring Floyd\u2019s journey,\u00a0Daddy Changed the World<\/em>\u00a0will also be a \u201cgritty drama of a man and his community thrust into the fiery light of history.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited the world will see the real, jovial, and loving George we know. This film will humanize him, embody the essence of his life, and hopefully reignite efforts to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. It\u2019s time for justice and equality for all,\u201d Washington said in a statement.<\/div>\n

She continued, \u201cWe need to make changes swiftly. No other child should lose their father like Gianna did. We thank everyone who stood with us and protested. George\u2019s legacy will live on through this film.\u201d<\/p>\n
