The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has urged Ghanaians to embrace sanitation as a national culture and legacy during the relaunch of the National Sanitation Day (NSD).<\/p>\n

The event, held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Institute of Local Government Studios in Ogbojo-Accra.<\/p>\n

It was attended by President John Mahama, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Traditional Leaders, MMDCEs, and Civil Society representatives. It was themed \u201cA Clean Environment, Our Responsibility.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In her welcome address, Ms Ocloo described the relaunch as \u201ca renewal of our collective resolve to build a cleaner, healthier Ghana,\u201d emphasising that sanitation must become an integral part of everyday life rather than a periodic activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us embrace National Sanitation Day not as an event, but as a habit, a duty, and a legacy for generations,\u201d she declared.<\/p>\n

She assured the President and dignitaries present of the commitment of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council and all 29 MMDAs to lead the campaign. <\/p>\n

\u201cTogether with environmental health officers, waste management teams, and community leaders, we will mobilise our people, identify priority areas, and provide the logistics needed for effective clean-up exercises,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

Ms Ocloo emphasised the need for citizen participation, pledging to use both traditional and modern communication platforms to raise awareness and sustain action. <\/p>\n

She also tied sanitation to patriotism and environmental responsibility, noting that a cleaner Ghana was only possible through unity and discipline.<\/p>\n

\u201cLadies and Gentlemen, a clean Ghana is possible if we unite in discipline and determination,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The relaunch, she explained, reaffirms government\u2019s determination to tackle waste management with renewed vigour. <\/p>\n

National Sanitation Day will now be observed on the first Saturday of every month, mobilising individuals, households, communities, businesses, and institutions to maintain cleaner surroundings and uphold environmental standards.<\/p>\n
