Professor Alidu Seidu Mahama, a lecturer in the Political Science Department at the University of Ghana, has emerged victorious in the Tamale Central parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n

He secured 840 votes out of 1,511 valid ballots cast, beating 11 other contenders in what was a hotly contested race.<\/p>\n

His closest challenger, former Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Mayor Abdul Hanan Gundadoo, polled 536 votes, while the remaining candidates shared the rest of the ballots.<\/p>\n

    In all, 1,511 delegates voted out of a total of 1,551 registered, with one ballot rejected.<\/p>\n

    After being declared the winner, Professor Mahama expressed gratitude to the party, the delegates, and his fellow contenders for what he described as a clean and competitive campaign.<\/p>\n
