A presidential staffer, Nana Yaa Jantuah, has called out MultiChoice Ghana amid its public dispute with the government. <\/p>\n

Speaking on Prime Insights<\/em>, the former General Secretary of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) told the broadcaster that if the company feels excessively burdened by regulatory demands, it should simply cease operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a sovereign nation, and you are coming here to do business because you are earning money. So why are you here? If you\u2019re not making a profit, you should just say, \u2018You are stressing us, so we are folding up.\u2019 The fact that you are still here means there is some kind of benefit that endures from your operations. So why don\u2019t you calm down and say, \u2018This is your country. I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nana Yaa Jantuah argued that MultiChoice\u2019s continued presence in the market speaks to its profitability and they must act as such.<\/p>\n

She emphasised that the issue transcends politics, saying, \u201cIt has nothing to do with politics. There is no bullying anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

The staffer indicated that the matter must rather be viewed through the lens of public interest and corporate responsibility.<\/p>\n
