England boss Thomas Tuchel should not be judged on \u201cnonsense\u201d World Cup qualifiers, says Wayne Rooney.<\/p>\n

The Three Lions host Andorra and visit Serbia in Group K during the next five days.<\/p>\n

England have beaten Albania 2-0, Latvia 3-0 and Andorra 1-0 in Tuchel\u2019s first three competitive matches in charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s a top manager,\u201d Rooney said on his BBC podcast,\u00a0The Wayne Rooney Show.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s maybe got a little bit of stick about the way that England played, and those games are just nonsense really.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou turn up and you just know England are going to win the game. It\u2019s 10 men sitting behind the ball, and you\u2019ve got to break them down, which is not easy against any team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rooney scored 53 goals in 120 caps for England between 2003 and 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to love playing for England. Watching England now and some of the games, you know they\u2019re going to win, it can be a bit boring. Obviously getting into the tournament, that\u2019s when you enjoy it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last few games, it was against Andorra or something like that. It was painful.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I feel] sorry for Thomas Tuchel because he probably wants a decent game where he can go and show what he can do. It\u2019s a no-win [situation] really.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuchel\u2019s England contract runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.<\/p>\n

Two wins in the next week would take them close to sealing their place there with three qualifiers to spare.<\/p>\n

Rooney added: \u201cI think for Thomas Tuchel, you want to see England having to sit back and defend and having tactically to break down teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgainst the better teams [that chance] will come. So, I think he\u2019ll do really well for England. Whether they\u2019ll win the World Cup\u2026 you don\u2019t know, I think that he\u2019s got one shot, hasn\u2019t he?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
