The Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA), Bawku Chapter, has issued a stern call on Mr Kennedy Agyapong and his spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, to retract what they describe as a \u201creckless and malicious\u201d social media publication against former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n

The youth insist that the allegation, which suggests Dr Bawumia once flew a rival chief to Bawku and imposed him on the people, is false and dangerous.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Thursday, 5 September 2025, MAYA said the claim was originally fabricated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign for political gain.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is therefore disgraceful that Kennedy Agyapong and his spokesperson, who claim to have supported the NPP candidate in that election, are now shamelessly recycling the same propaganda against the very candidate they purportedly supported,\u201d the group declared.<\/p>\n

The youth further argued that such rhetoric was particularly irresponsible, given the sensitivity of the Bawku chieftaincy issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo recklessly twist facts for political capital is to play with the peace and security of our people. No serious leader should engage in such divisive conduct,\u201d the statement warned.<\/p>\n

MAYA expressed concern that while the NDC had since distanced itself from tribal politics, Mr Agyapong\u2019s camp appeared determined to revive the same approach.<\/p>\n

The association described this as an insult to both Bawku and the wider Mamprugu Kingdom, stressing that the community had long endured the consequences of political interference in local conflicts.<\/p>\n

The youth group has therefore demanded a full and unqualified retraction and apology from Mr Agyapong\u2019s team to the people of Bawku and Mamprugu.<\/p>\n

\u201cFailure to heed to this advice will compel us to declare Kennedy Agyapong\u2019s campaign team persona non grata in our jurisdiction until such a retraction and apology is rendered,\u201d the statement, signed by MAYA President Mr Seidu Awudu and Secretary Mr Abdul Majeed Bagura, concluded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
