Chelsea have agreed an improved package for striker Nicolas Jackson to join Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n

After an on-off transfer saga, the 24-year-old is set to complete an initial loan move for \u00a314.3m (16.5m euros), which crucially includes a mandatory obligation to buy for \u00a356.2m (65m euros) through a minimum number of appearances.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a deal on slightly improved terms as the one initially agreed and now worth in excess of \u00a370m.<\/p>\n

Personal terms are already in place for a future five-year permanent contract for Jackson, whose deal with Bayern was in doubt after Chelsea\u00a0instructed him to return when Liam Delap was injured\u00a0in Saturday\u2019s Premier League win over Fulham.<\/p>\n

The Senegal forward joined Chelsea from \u00a332m from Villarreal in 2023 and scored 30 goals in 81 matches.<\/p>\n

To boost their own attacking options, Chelsea have signed Argentine Facundo Buonanotte, 20, on a season-long loan deal from Brighton for a \u00a32m fee.<\/p>\n

Jackson had been an automatic starter until his red card at St James\u2019s Park in April \u2013 his second dismissal of the season \u2013 which left the club without a striker as they were competing for a place in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Jackson was then sent off within four minutes of coming on as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 group-stage defeat by Flamengo at the Club World Cup, Fifa\u2019s expanded competition which Chelsea ultimately won. Strikers Liam Delap and Joao Pedro arrived to replace him during the tournament.<\/p>\n

Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation said Jackson ultimately lost the trust of manager Enzo Maresca and some of the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge, prompting Jackson to seek a move.<\/p>\n

It was a shift in mood as Maresca said earlier in April that the frontman was his \u201cperfect number nine\u201d and wanted \u201ca copy of Nico\u201d rather than to replace him.<\/p>\n

Jackson could face Chelsea on September 17 (20:00 BST) in Munich as Uefa rules allow loanees to face their parent clubs in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Who will replace Delap?<\/h2>\n

Chelsea\u2019s transfer plans were turned upside down after Delap\u2019s injury, which could sideline him for \u201csix to eight weeks\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Blues had earlier that day made an offer to sign Barcelona forward Fermin Lopez, but were then forced to switch focus to sorting out the striker situation.<\/p>\n

They initially opted to withdraw permission for Jackson to conduct a medical with Bayern, although he still wanted to join the Munich side.<\/p>\n

Chelsea were then keen to negotiate a permanent sale to fund a move for Sporting striker Conrad Harder. However, the 20-year-old was already in advanced negotiations with RB Leipzig and chose them, with an offer of a more important squad role on the table.<\/p>\n

The Blues have now opted to recall Spain striker Marc Guiu, 19, from his season-long loan at Sunderland.<\/p>\n

Guiu scored once in his only start with a further two substitute appearances at the Stadium of Light, but fills the Delap void and is likely to deputise in-form striker Joao Pedro.<\/p>\n

Chelsea hijacked Leeds United\u2019s move for Buonanotte and will pay about \u00a32m to sign the twice-capped Argentina international temporarily.<\/p>\n

The forward spent last season on loan at Leicester City and managed six goals and three assists in 35 appearances as the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have several staff members who know Buonanotte well from their time at Brighton, including co-sporting director Paul Winstanley and director of global recruitment Sam Jewell.<\/p>\n

Maresca\u2019s side have already added another Argentina forward, Alejandro Garnacho, from Manchester United for \u00a340m.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fellow Brighton forward Julio Enciso, 21, is also expected to join Chelsea\u2019s partner club Strasbourg for \u00a313.8m, with a view that he will play for the Blues after a year in France.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
