The Oval 2006 Group, a University of Ghana alumni association with roots from Commonwealth Hall, has delivered essential items worth 15,000 Ghana cedis and provided an additional 5,000 Ghana cedis in cash to a children\u2019s home in Amasaman as part of their community outreach efforts. <\/p>\n

The group donated food supplies and household necessities to Kressner Handmaids Children\u2019s Home and Divine Providence School at Otaten.<\/p>\n

The donation included rice, sugar, gari, spaghetti, sardines, tomato paste, cooking oil, soap, washing powder, cartons of Indomie noodles, and 100 bags of sachet water.<\/p>\n

The supplies will help sustain daily operations at the facility, which serves vulnerable children who have been abandoned or lack family support.<\/p>\n

Sr. Kizita Otoo, director of the home managed by the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer Sisters of Accra, said the institution has worked with vulnerable children since the 1960s. <\/p>\n

The current facility was funded by the Rotary Club in Germany, with construction completed in March 2015. Local supporters joined the effort after the initial project was established.<\/p>\n

The visit extended beyond the material donation, with alumni members spending time interacting with the children and sharing insights about various professions and life experiences. <\/p>\n

The children enthusiastically discussed their future aspirations and career visions with the visiting professionals, creating meaningful exchanges about education and opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur aim is to educate and develop children so they do not become a burden on society,\u201d Sr. Kizita explained. \u201cWe depend mostly on charity, but we also run a poultry farm to help sustain the home.\u201d <\/p>\n

She expressed the sisters\u2019 hope for completing a water project that remains halfway finished and establishing a sickbay to better serve the children\u2019s health needs.<\/p>\n

Group chairman Eugene Osei-Wireko emphasised that the nearly two-decade friendship among members has evolved into a commitment to social responsibility. <\/p>\n

The association focuses on delivering concrete support rather than making empty promises to communities in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are action people. We don\u2019t promise, we deliver,\u201d Osei-Wireko said during the presentation. \u201cWhat brings us together is friendship, and we believe that same spirit can give hope to these children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fellow member Kofi Amoa-Abban described the donation as marking a significant milestone in the group\u2019s relationship with the orphanage. <\/p>\n

He pledged continued engagement between the alumni association and the children\u2019s home beyond the current contribution.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday will be a new chapter of love, a new chapter of hope, and a new chapter of family,\u201d Amoa-Abban stated. \u201cWe shall come here as many times as God permits us to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

The orphanage combines charitable donations with poultry farming operations to maintain its services for children requiring shelter, education and care. <\/p>\n

Officials from both organisations expressed confidence that the partnership will help expand the facility\u2019s capacity to serve more vulnerable children in the Greater Accra region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
