Police Ladies had a troubling start to their WAFU B Women\u2019s Champions League Qualifiers on Sunday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Malta Guinness Women\u2019s Premier League champions suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nigerian counterpart Bayelsa Queens in their opening game of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Nigerian champions set the tone for a great start to the competition after scoring two goals in the opening 65 minutes of the encounter at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shakirat Moshood scored in the 12th minute before substitute Emem Essien added the second in the 62nd minute.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There was a lifeline for Police Ladies later in the game when captain Mary Berko got onto the scoresheet after Sarah Nyarko had hit the crossbar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, that goal wasn\u2019t enough for the Ghanaian side as Bayelsa Queens held onto their lead to secure all three points at the expense of Police Ladies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Later in the day, Sam Nelly defeated ASKO in the other Group B fixture making Police Ladies next two games crucial for their qualification into the semifinal stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The debutants are up against Sam Nelly in their next game on Wednesday, August 27.<\/p>\n

Police Ladies are playing in the competition for the first time since the inception of the tournament in 2021, hoping to become the third Ghanaian to win it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
