Two persons have appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court for allegedly making offensive and abusive statements against President John Mahama.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Priscilla Duah Birago, a 29-year-old National Service Person, and Charity Dede Tetteh, also 29, a beautician, are alleged to have made the statements on August\u202f6, 2025, during a live-streaming discussion on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would\u202fhave been happier if the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, was involved in the helicopter crash and dwarfs had eaten him up, and that a lot of people are dying under his tenure of office\u201d, the two were alleged to have said among other abusive words.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The court, presided over by Mrs Angela Attachie, did not take their\u202fpleas and remanded them into police custody to reappear on September 2, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u202fThis was after the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, prayed the court to remand the accused persons pending further investigations.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

The facts before the court are that the Republic of Ghana is the complainant.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

On August 6, 2025, the two accused persons hosted a live-streamed discussion on their social media platform, TikTok, during which they made those offensive statements, a conduct, prosecution said, was likely to provoke a breach of peace.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It said Birago disseminated those remarks on her TikTok account named \u201cAbena Birago\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The accused persons were, thus, arrested by law enforcement agencies for investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A forensic capture of the live stream was obtained as evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigations were ongoing, the prosecution said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
